ImageTriumph Over Phobia (TOP UK) is a UK registered charity which aims to help sufferers of phobias, obsessive compulsive disorder and other related anxiety to overcome their fears and become ex-sufferers. We do this by running a network of self-help therapy groups.  Groups meet weekly and are structured, warm and supportive.

Triumph Over Phobia (TOP UK) was started in 1987 with the professional help of Professor I M Marks, MD, FRCPsych of the Institute of Psychiatry, London, by the late Celia Bonham Christie MBE, MA, who had overcome her fear of flying by following the self-help instructions from Living with Fear (Marks, I.M., McGraw-Hill).

TOP UK groups are run by trained volunteers many of whom are ex-sufferers. They have previously attended a TOP group, recovered and gone on to become inspirational group leaders in their own right.

Groups use a type of behaviour therapy which is based on Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT) principles.  Groups are structured and goals are set each week to help you overcome your fears.  If you have a phobia, OCD or other related anxiety and are prepared to work at the self-help programme, a TOP UK group can help you.

TOP UK records show that working in a group is very beneficial.  Many people, despite years of suffering, improve greatly in an average time of 5 months.

Pam (OCD for 22 years) '' For me TOP was a life changing experience.  It transformed my life in a magical way and in such a short time.  I went from someone who was scared of everything because of contamination fears to someone who then used every hour in a fulfilling and positive way''
